Singapore households can donate balance of CDC Vouchers 2021 and 2022 to charities

Media Release for the CDC Vouchers Donation Scheme 2021 and 2022
Singaporean households now have the option to donate the balance of their Community Development Council (CDC) Vouchers 2021 and 2022 to a preferred Charity (who are also an Institution of a Public Character (IPC)) via the CDC Vouchers Scheme website.
As of 20 December 2022, 1.20 million (98 %) Singaporean households have claimed their CDC Vouchers 2021; and 1.16 million (95%) Singaporean households have claimed their CDC Vouchers 2022. Of the vouchers distributed, more than $218 million, or close to 90% of the total CDC Vouchers 2021 and 2022 have been spent at close to 20,000 participating hawkers and heartland merchants.
While Singaporean households are encouraged to claim and spend their vouchers before they expire on 31 December 2022, the CDCs have received public feedback that some Singapore households would like to share the balance amount of their vouchers with those who might need it more amidst concern over rising cost of living. The CDCs are now offering Singaporean households more flexibility in using CDC Vouchers through a donation option.
From 20 December 2022 until 31 January 2023, Singaporean households may pledge the balance amount of their CDC Vouchers 2021 and 2022. The CDC Vouchers would be donated in cash value instead of vouchers. Tax deduction may be provided by respective Charity, depending on the respective Charity’s policy on issuance of tax deduction, which will be reflected in the Year of Assessment 2024.

Ms Low Yen Ling, Chairman, Mayors’ Committee and Mayor of South West District, said “Singaporeans have shown great strength and unity in the midst of challenging circumstances. I am glad that the CDC Vouchers have helped in some way to defray the daily expenses of Singaporean households and at the same time, supported our local heartland businesses. We hope Singaporeans will find this option to donate their 2021 and 2022 CDC Vouchers to be a meaningful way of contributing to those in need. I am touched by the selfless spirit of Singaporeans who uplift one another in tough times. I am certain our strong sense of solidarity and resilience will help us weather challenges and forge ahead together as one nation.”
In 2023, Singaporean households can look forward to more support with daily essentials with the launch of CDC Vouchers Scheme 2023 on 3 January 2023 by Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Mr Lawrence Wong. Each Singaporean household will receive $300 CDC Vouchers in early January - $150 which can be spent at participating hawkers and heartland merchants; the other $150 at participating supermarkets, to offer residents more choices to meet their needs. More details on CDC Vouchers Scheme 2023 will be announced in due course.
